On October 1, Paramount Bed Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Koto City, Tokyo; president and CEO: Tomohiko Kimura; hereafter “Paramount Bed”) announced a collaboration with SBI Investment Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Minato City, Tokyo; representative director, chairman, president, and CEO: Yoshitaka Kitao; hereafter “SBI Investment”), a wholly owned subsidiary of SBI Holdings, Inc. (headquarters: Minato City, Tokyo; representative director, chairman, president, and CEO: Yoshitaka Kitao). This collaboration takes the form of the establishment of Paramount Bed-SBI Healthcare Fund Investment Limited Partnership No. 1 (common name: “Paramount Bed Healthcare Fund,” hereinafter the “Fund”), a CVC (corporate venture capital) fund that targets promising startups in Japan and internationally, whose strengths lie in the fields of medical care, nursing care, and health promotion.
The Paramount Vision 2030, Paramount Bed Group’s corporate vision for the year 2030, sets forth a theme of “smiles for everyone from medical and nursing care to the health field,” and the company aims to increase its corporate value while contributing to its stakeholders, by offering products and services that help address issues in the fields of medical care, nursing care, and health promotion, and by building new businesses in these fields and beyond.
In recent years, many venture companies have been making the most of innovative new ideas and technologies like AI, IoT, and Digital Transformation (DX). Through the Fund, we aim to create new business opportunities to bring the Paramount Vision 2030 to fruition, by combining our own technologies, expertise, human networks, and other resources with those of external organizations to enable new synergies.
Over the next seven and a half years, the Fund will utilize SBI Investment’s corporate development expertise and network and invest approximately 5 billion yen into promising startups in Japan and internationally, whose strengths lie in the fields of medical care, nursing care, and health promotion.
